Another take on all this-
I bought a running '69 FBC a few years ago and have been using her/gradually fixing her up. I now have a pretty nice boat for a pretty reasonable anount of money. I'm sure I could sell her now for more than I have into her, as long as my labor is valued at 2 or 3 cents an hour. Would I'd do it again? Yup--but I might do it another way.
There are a few B31s for sale that have been professionally restored. If I were doing this again, I'd probably take out a loan and buy one of those. You could never duplicate Tom Ward's Rumrunner for what he's asking for it (if its still for sale). Capt. Pat's Fortuna/Iasgair is for sale--there are others. Start pricing pipe work, canvas work, paint, motors and gears, electronics, rewiring, add it to that cheap gasser B31 you've found, and you'll see what I mean.
I wouldn't buy a hurricane wrecked boat unless you can get it for next to nothing--you'll have to strip the boat as Bruce said, you'll always own a boat that's been sunk, and someday you may want/have to sell it.
Just my 2 cents.

I can see my '69 B31 from here, and she sure looks good.
