Do a search on boats.com, you'll find that for Bertrams 31-38ft long the highest priced vessels are 31's. The 31 is one of the few old boats that you can get nearly every part for. Try finding more than 1 manufacturer for a deck and baitwell kit for a 1971 36foot Hatteras.
There are alway b/w 60 and 80 boats for sale in various stages of repair, so there are plenty of choices.
If you decide to jump in and redo one, do it the right way. The pay back on a properly completed boat is way more than that of a hack job. That goes for gas or diesel.
Remember its fiberglass if you mess it up grind it off and start over. You'll find plenty of information and people to help on this site.
