Cap'n Pat "engine install

I am preparing my engine beds for new power "gas". Would the proper method for finding the engine height installation be in reverse? Setting struts, logs in place than shaft & take measurements for height than? lowering the engines would be a nice thing, but considering budget I want to keep shaft angle somewhat the same if not centered better and using your idea of aluminum angled mounts as shown in "Buddy boy" pics. Maybe you have an idea or supplier for these mounts. If I have to glass up existing thru-hull holes than so be it, but would love some direction at this point!
