Mike,
I have been in Europe a lot lately, so I am out of touch with Guatemala. Lissa headed down on Sunday to check things out.
Even though I have not been in touch with my guys in Guatemala, at this time of year we have all the boats out of the water, or up in Mexico getting work done. I believe everything is ok.
I am scrambling to ship another couple of Bertrams down to Mexico, and a bigger boat I bought. It should be busy for me for the 30 days getting that stuff done.
Ecquador is a lot tougher than you think. I have the orginal captain of the equador operation for Choate working for me, and he just delivered the Intensity to Ecquador for Choate. I believe it does have great potential, but the runs are long, and the best places require overnights. As with any remote place that has little pressure, it is very good until the boats show up. It is very seasonal, with a 3 month strong season from what I recall in discussions with Kiwi Chris (captain. I can get more info for you if you would like, but it would be tough setting up operation there. There is also lots of ugliness between the operators.
There are a couple of places in Mexico that are very good with no operators. El Salvador is another location which has excellant fishing and few operators at this time. I can give you some info when you get closer to making a move.
Brian
