When using the Interlux my bilges had been painted before with enamal and according to the gurus with good prep work, primer is not needed. I felt this was good info for we paint boats here and US Paint says with Awlgrip if a boat has Awlgrip already and the condition is good a repaint does not require primer.
But one of the problems I had with the Interlux was a month or so after painting I was stepping on the painted surface and the paint came loose in a rubbery form meaning it never really harded up properly.
Awlgrip or most two part catalyst poly base paints are very hard paints, an I think the way to go.
