Red flag. I was always told and do it . .8 to .9 X shaft dia.= distance from end of strut to hub of prop. i.e. 1.2" to 1.35". .9 is way too little and not proper for aquadynamics as I understand it as well as some basic physics. Consult Patrick's"Boat Building Tips" section under High Performance Shafting. Dave K
