Engine Bed Plates

Cap't Pat,

Its a little late but I have to ask.

When I started the 31SF rebuild I didn't have the benefit of this site. When it came to engine bed design I kind of folowed the original(gas engines).I now have Yanmar 300's.

Any how I went the 2 in. oak,bolted in,fiberglassed,etc..

The differance is I located SS plates at the engine mount points. These are bedded in the oak, bolted down with 1/2in.X 5in.SS lag screws and have side plates with 3/8in,lag screws.

The mounts bolt to the plates(1/4 thk.),with 1/2 nuts welded to the back.

NOW I'm starting to worry about the mating surfaces,Alumium Bases Vs. SS plates.

Need opinions!!!

Thanks,

Bill M
