John-
I would probably try to buy the whaler from you if I was not in my current engine quandry (which is still playing out). Latest estimate is about $9k to rebuild with labor. That figure also includes add-ons like electronic ignition and rebuilding the trannie (since it is out) and a few mics. parts that need to be addressed. On the flip side, T&S Marine sent me a proposal for $19k for a pair of 220 6b's (inc. trans., trolling valves, but no labor). It is enticing, however, I am guessing the total bill would be $30k++ with labor, engine bed modification, etc.
Did you check out the great schooner race start while you were out there today? Going to be a quick trip with the wind velocity and direction forecast.
I saw Rumrunner listed last week with a starting bid at $50k. Went out of town and got back last night only to see it re-listed starting at $100k. Maybe we should both go in on it and get a slip at OCMD?
Hopefully the weather will hold up for the boat show. I plan to take an "extended" lunch tomorrow and head over there before the crowds.
Let's go wet a line before the end of the season!
