Dave,

The curved sides are on a tounge and grove hinge. Just slide them apart...

Be sure that before you powder coat or paint that the aluminum is carefully and completely acid washed with Awlprep and then Alodine. Parts of the frames are hollow and need inside treatment too.

Use Nylon or Delrin washers under all bolt heads or nuts that will touch your finish.
