Post over on 25bertram.com, as Walter said they've got experience with the foam and transom issues.

Also, some of the wellcraft V20 owners seem to be happy with a bracket and most are positive buoyancy. I don’t think a motor well would look as good or perform as good. If you’ve got to keep it in the water, a re-work with a bracket would be a good way to go, get that motor out of the water completely. Leaving an I/O boat in the water leads to frequent replacement of the bellows hoses and nothing really keeps the barnacles off the drive. Don’t pay attention to those items and down she’ll go!

I’ve got some e-mails from other 20 owners which I’ll forward to you. Kind of scary at first, but after addressing the 2 major problems of foam and transom you’d have a great day boat for the bay. I couldn’t be happier with the ride of my B20 moppie (and fuel economy). I’m interested to see how she does on the Chesapeake slow troll, that’s the only time a flat bottom is good in the bay.

You know, if you’re going the project route anyway. I’ve seen some B25’s for under $10k a single Yamaha 300 on a bracket would push that around the bay just fine!! or maybe a pair of 225 4strokes??
