Rocket,
To get your absolute best prices on engines you need to be there in person to either do a deposit or make sure the salesman has contact info for you as you discuss pricing. The companies are represented not only by their own staff, but local dealers as well.
Diesel engine makers are much more strick about buying from local dealers.
If I as a South Florida dealer sell a Yanmar to someone in NY and it needs warrantee, the serial number will show it was sold in Fla.
The local distributor will complain to Yanmar as well as the local dealer. Some local dealers will refuse to do warrantee on engines bought outside their area that arn't OEM.I could loose the engine maker as a dealer.
Because of the internet thing that has deflated engine prices, dealers have complained to engine makers and they are tightening their restrictions on sales territory.
Fall off the truck deals are still there, but you have to be there in person and ready to put down a deposit, otherwise your a tire kicker and like road kill on a hot afternoon, the salesman will smell it.
I would talk to the local dealer and see if they will support the Lauderdale pricing.
Gas engines don't count as they are a bunch of whores anyway.
