If you can get ahold of one of those laser tmp. guns, I'd take that and shoot everything in the cooling system to see where you are. General guidelines for manifolds/risers for closed cooling is that you manifolds get to hot to touch, but you can rest your hand on the risers/elbows (I call 'em risers. I've been told that they're really "elbows," and risers are the spacer things you use to get your elbows higher above the waterline).
