Dave, as Ken said, sounds like your reverse electrical switch/solenoid is stuck in the 'up' postion. DC motors run forward or reverse based on the polarity of the current going to them - + to the red and they run forward, - to the red and they run the other way. Most high amp motors, like windlesses, use a 'up/down' switch that controlls a high amp solenoid to do the actual switching of the motor leads. It's either your dash switch (low amp) or the high amp solenoid that's stuck, probably the solenoid. Switch the +/- at the solenoid and it should back out showing the fault being the solenoid.
