I don't like the bow pulpit because I always think I'm gonna' wack some thing with it. I have an anchor windlass that I use when going solo and I like it. When I'm with a crew, we play with the anchor float method like Walter uses (Brian, you sholud look into this anchor float method. I made my own). And the third method I use in shallow water is putting the engines in reverse and backing down @ maybe four kts and the anchor comes to the surface since the flukes flip over . Then pull it in by hand or the windlass. I had eight feet of 3/8ths chain on and it still worked. Just give it a little more juice.
So that's the comments from Long Island.
Oh, yeah, one more thing. My cast net throwing is getting better but don't let anyone say otherwise. Like "Windstar"-- he had me on the freakin' bow of his boat the other week, with nothing for me to hold on to so my balance off. And he couldn't put me on the fish either!
