Out at Montauk most anchor from the cockpit using a ball bouy and removable ring. Climbing out on the bow in our waters is left for calm days or foolhardy youth. We run up on the scope, the ball runs down the line and pulls the anchor to the top. Then we retrieve it into a basket in the cockpit. And yes, it does first run through the bow chocks. Walter
