In Response To: gelcoat spiders (phil)

Phil,

Spider cracking is the result of the old gelcoat finally curing to the point that the surface can no longer hold the tension. Kinda' like cracks in dried mud; the more it dries, (cures), the wider the crack.

The bad news is that the only way to avoid having the cracks ghost back through the primer and paint is to completely sand the gelcoat away. The good news is that gelcoat sands easily with a dual action sander and 80 grit.

Br,

Patrick
