Well, the number of guys interested is now up to 33, which is over the capacity of TSL by one. Since everyone is paying their own way, I'm not gonna do my usual Nazi technique of cutting people out - not yet. I'm still waiting for the TSL to get back with me about a big group discount, but don't hold your breath, other than my group organizer discount will increase thus the cover on the bar tab.
Their general guidelines for large groups:
At time of booking (will be very soon, say in the next couple of weeks) we have to front $1,000 per boat deposit, so if we take 9 boats (I'm planning on us fishing 3 to a boat) that's 9 grand we gotta front. Then we can reduce the number of boats by 25% up to 6 months before our trip with no penalty. Six months before our trip we have to front 50% of the total cost less the boat deposit and 91 days before our trip front the rest. Refunds are next to out of the question after the money march starts. They recc. trip cancellation insurance which I know nothing about, but once the money is plunked down, consider it gone if you can't go.
There is a $350 transfer fee on top of the TSL fee that includes airport transfers and the charter air to Pinas Bay round trip. The hotel on each end of the trip in PA City is not included in the TSL fee. The Bristol looks like a real nice place in PA City, don't have a clue on the rates yet. TSL will require a Visa or MC for each of us to guarantee the charter air and over the limit on the bar tab.
It appears that I'm responsible for gathering up the money and providing the credit card numbers. They don't want groups to each deal with them, guess that's why the "group organizer" discount.
My current thinking is I'll set up a bookeeping account in our client's trust account (you are all gonna be my clients) and use that to hold and disburse the cheese to TSL. That account is subject to audit by the La. attorney disbarment folks, an arm of our state Supreme Court, so my zeal to steal the money will be somewhat tempered.
So those who are serious be prepared to send checks in a couple of weeks for 1/? of however many boats we reserve.
Additions to the list I posted the other day are:
26 Hal Lovato
27 Tiger Sutton
28 Da Judge
29 Billy de la Garza
30 Hank the rod builder from NY
31 Jeremy Creech
32 Jeremy's buddy # 1
33 Jeremy's buddy # 2If you are on the list and not prepared to front some money shortly, let me know, 'cause there is now a waiting list.
