Thanks for the calls and emails. Here in Houston we're fine and will have no problems from Rita. I don't know what happened to my boat or house on the coast, but its time to get back on schedule. The wife won't head to the deer lease, but she's willing to resume her shopping schedule.
Seeing how they won't let us down to the beach to assess damages for a few days, its time to reclaim some normalcy. I've got my bride and kiddo and some of our other buddies wives headed to Santa Fe, NM tomorrow pm for a few days of cool weather and silver shopping.
Meanwhile, the menfolk are headed to Loop Farms in Brownsville for our annual, albeit, slightly delayed dove hunt. We have a Mariachi band lined up for Sunday and Monday afternoons. They play under a tent we erect in the fields, while we shoot morning and whitewing doves to famous Mexican stylings such as Guantanamera and La Cucaracha (sp). Absolutely no clears until you're done shooting which doesn't take long. The whole hunt is a kick in the pants.
When everyone has s***, showered and shaved, we load up the trucks and head across to Matamoros for some of the finest pastor, cabrito, and company you've ever seen. This could be the annual fall UVI Vic, South Texas style.
Capt. Pat, you've got to do this with us when you migrate home.-Tom
