Patrick,

Can't be of much help on your wiring/gauge problems, but if you have a stock flybridge with the original, (or re-made to original), panel below the dash, it's easily removable... With it out, and a couple of boat cushions you can lay right down and work to your hearts content. Oh, yeah don't forget the cold beers...
