Actually it was pretty easy to get attention this go around with Rita following closely on the heals of Katrina. What I was a bit amazed over was that my "far away from the ocean ranchette" is now under a tropical storm watch.

Damned near in the middle of the state. 235 miles from the coast... At least my trees and cactus will get a couple of good rainy days.

I kinda' feel like I'm coasting for the past two days without constantly posting updates on hurricanes. Hardly think there's a person alive within a thousand mile radius of Rita that sitting on the edge of their chair or scattering like a herd of deer on opening day.

Arrrr... Another hellova' mess fixin' to wash up over yonder.

Current: Cat5, 904 mb, fifth most intense hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Basin, but will probably drop off to a strong Cat3 by landfall... Just a waiting game at this point.
