I probly over did it but I have been using the strainers as Capt Pat mentioned since I bought the boat and I have a Groco Like inboard strainer as well. Personally I like a visual aid to know water is going into the engine at low speeds or when launched.

I opted for external strainers to help with the everpresent Bag problems, they work well.
