Your thoughts are basically correct. The size/weight ratio has changed considerably in recent years, as well as some of the other diesel downsides-ie, noisy, smelly, smokey. My Cummins fits in my engine spaces better than my Chryslers did. Then there's 14 gph vs 28+gph for the same speed. No more blowers before you start, simpler maintenance, extended range per tank. Add to that the intangibles...safety, the boat "feels" different when running, handles better when docking, and gives added value when reselling. I have to assume I'd have had to have had another set of gas engines installed since I purchased my Cummins. I personally was talked into the diesels because Chrysler wouldn't guarantee their new engines unless I changed my exhaust system to bigger ones. When the costs were figured out, I could put in Cummins and leave the old exhaust size in. I've never been sorry. Thank you Chrysler! Walter
