The 2:00 EDT NHC Report is that Rita now has 100 MPH winds and has been upgraded to Cat2.
THE 2 PM EDT POSITION...23.9 N... 81.7 W. MOVEMENT TOWARD...WEST NEAR 15 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...100 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE... 978 MB.
Rita is in the Florida Straights southeast of Key West and northwest of Havana, Cuba. Once into the Gulf of Mexico, (about 8 PM tonight), Rita will have plenty of time to strengthen before landfall early to mid morning on Saturday...
