I am second owner (for 3 years now) of an '84 26 Sport Convertible. I was fortunate to get it in outstanding material condition. There is no way a boat manufacturer could make a modern-day boat in similar fashion....it would just be too expensive. You can lift any hatch cover and just see the quality, even in places where most people never look. I live in Annapolis Md. and use the boat to ply the waters of the Bay. When most boats have long retreated to the safety of their berths, I can still handle the chop with ease. My twin inboard version (economical V-6s) can cruise all day at 20 KTS while burning 9 Gals/Hour. I also get admiring looks everywhere I go...especially from the more "experienced yachtsmen". This boat is definitely more attractive than the B28 version...despite being very close in most physical dimensions. I believe I am correct in saying that this boat had the largest deadrise (26 degrees) of any Bertram ever built. It results in a slightly tippy boat if sitting at slow speed in a seaway, but slices through anything at moderate to higher speeds. I would like someone to show me a better 26 foot boat. I don't think one exists.
