Furuno Color Video Sounder *LINK* *PIC*

My boat came with a Furuno FCV-667 Color Video Sounder. I’m wondering if there’s anything special about this unit. It's sheer size seem to indicated that it might be antiquated. (It’s as big as a small shoebox and heavy as a brick.) It seems to have a lot of features, but that doesn’t interest me much. I cruise the shallow N. Chesapeake and occasionally look for fish here. I’m thinking about replacing it with a much smaller, lighter modern unit (Lowrance/Garmin). The attached link seems to indicate that with the temperature sensor and transducer I have $800 worth of equipment installed so I may just leave well enough alone and keep lugging the brick up to the bridge. I’m guessing I’d have to replace the transducer if I switched brands(?)
