Thanks for the input guys. I think this might be my plan:

1. Shim the seat 1" in front and 2" in back. This will get me higher, perch me slightly forward and bring the rounded edge of the cushion closer to my leg.

2. Move the seat back 1"-2". This small distance should get it off my calves without causing much havoc with the rail and hatch located aft.

I just wonder if I'm kidding myself making adjustments in these small incriments. Its worth a try. Anything more involved is definately several projects down the road...
