Well the Germans are still using them. At least in 2001. Think they are Kevlar though. 93,000 miles and still working.They recomend changing them every 50,000 miles. Glad my Volvos don't have them.I broke two of them in 2 of my 3 Isuzu Diesels. No harm at idle or low speed. Heard of total engine loss breaking at highway speed. They usually break on start-up with the sudden torque application from a cold condition. At least that's been my experience. Dave K
