Martial law was declared yesterday but seems to have no effect whats so ever. There are some police who were stuck in town, but seem to be trapped like everyone else to an extent. There were pictures of the police along with residents looting stores.
Others showed people walking by police and National Guard carrying looted material with no arrests made.The problem is there is no place to take someone when you arrest them. So why bother.
The superdome has become a quagmaire of its own with thousands more and no working heads, water and very hot.
I believe you should be prepared to live for a couple of weeks without help if you live in a potential disater area, most intercity dwellers neither have the inclination or the money to do so.
I have heard quotes that because these people have been suppressed for so long that is why they lash out when disaster happens.
Which to me is pure crap.
They are just lawless people with no morals which is why they are where they are to begin with.I frequent another forum where we talk about SHTF situations like this and some say with the way this country is setup it will never happen.
Well it did. And neither the feds, state, local goverments and most citizens were prepared at all.
Where are all the surviving residents from NO going to live while the city recontructs itself for years to come. So many without insurance coverage at all.
The same in Miss.The trickle down effects of lost commerce has not begin to set in. No tax base to rebuild.
My heart goes out to our friends here who were affected. It has become a family and it hurts when family is affected.
While it seems most was just property loss which can be replaced, but hurts never the less, I wait to hear about our friends at PE.
