I was actually thinking they were more efficient at a given speed, not just to go faster. With the low shaft angles and small amount of wetted drive surface along with the opportunity to turn a large wheel they seem to have a performance advantage. As for the jet drive system your working on, I can help, I operate eight 33,000 H.P. turbine engines at work to keep your A.C. on and beer cold, but at about 45 gallons a minute each, you'll need a big fuel tank!
