single lever controls

I have morse twin SR controls, and was pondering changing over to single levers. I love the looks and operation of panish on bigger boats, but I was wondering what all is involved in switching over, and if there is a prefered control or is it all personal preference. I have Cat 3116's. This would be a winter project, but if I go ahead with this, it would open up space to add more electronics, and possibly a steering pod, and the list goes on. Boats really are a never ending project. Thought I would see how much work I should plan on this winter. Thanks for the info.
