Wayne, I had a 2002 Dodge with the 24 valve, high output Cummins (245 hp), but with a 6 speed manual. Loved the truck, had 128,000 miles, never did a clutch or brake job, had original batteries, never even changed a headlight bulb. I did get a free injector pump at 94,000 miles - 100,000 miles warranty. I figured all that stuff was gonna have to be replaced this year, so I might be looking at $2,000 - $3,000 in maintenance, plus down time. Bought the new Dodge 4 door with the common rail engine and an automatic for my bad back. This engine is so quiet, it sounds like a gasser, and has a lot more power - 305 hp, 610 ft lbs torque at 1,500 rpm! So far, I love it, and they came down about $6,000 off sticker price. If my buddy gets a conversion kit to make it marine, I'll be looking for a pair of these for the boat next year!
John, I drove by Noe's yesterday, didn't look like they've done anything on Ernest's boat. $80,000 is a lot of repairs! I'll try to give you a call tomorrow, I'm takingg off work. My wife is supposed to be coming home from Europe tomorrow evening. I'll either be cleaning up the house or over at the boat in the morning.
