GM 6.2/6.5 diesel info

For any of you daring enough to use these engines(Peninsular, Marine Power)in your boat I came across something I did not know.

Yes I know that's hard to believe, but trust me, gaining too much knowlege about these engines is about as tasteful as seeing pictures of your mother-in-law naked.

That being said there is a major difference between the two engines that is not noticable and will lead to severe damage.

The flywheels are weighted different and if you use the 6.2 on the 6.5, you will end up with a busted crankshaft as is the case with the one I have sitting in the shop.

The owner changed out the long block assemblies and did not grasp this important point according to the reman shop that put it together.

My suggestion is if you see one of these engines as a consumer, run, run very fast in the opposite direction without looking back lest you turn to salt.
