You need to shut off the air when an engine "rings up" like Detroits can and starts uncontrollably burning the crankcase oil. The engine is ungoverned and can run away and destroy themselves. Most of the watermen around here have experienced it on worn out Detroits. Kapok life jackets and oilskins have all benn used successfully in the air intakes to shut them down. Rawleigh
