Getting the weight correctly is more important than trying to hunt down non-detergent oil.

Non-detergent just means it doesn't have the cleaners that take the combustable materials and mix them in the oil so they won't sludge in the engine.

It was supposed to have specific additives to combat rust and wear on tapered roller and ball
bearings.

I use standard motor oil in all my gear lube changes. Never had a failure contributed to oil and have never heard of one.
The oil of today is nothing like the oil of yesteryear.
Just stay away from oils that are refined from crude containing high sulfur content.

Using the wrong weight can hinder gear operation.
