Bad stop solonoid. I have installed emergengy pull strings(SS wire rope)to shut both of my engines off. They run through a tiny hole in both of my engine boxes. In fact I use them exclusively now as both of my stop solonoids are bad. Volvo had Bosch make up some special ones with no direct replacement from Bosch. Coast guard recomends emergency shut offs for this reason and other reasons. Your stop solonoids should be very affordable however. After you replace them you may want to consider putting in emergency stops via the old pull string method as I use.KISS is my motto. Tight lines... Dave K
