Run on 3208

Funny this should be happening to me just after reading the story about the 38 Bertram with the runaway Detriot engine. Over the last 10 times I've started and stopped my starboard CAT 3208T, twice it kept running for several seconds after I hit the kill switch. Neither engine had ever done this before, they both always stopped running immediately.
Both times it ran-on it just kept idling smoothly, then kind of clunked a little just before it stopped running. The longest run-on was about 7 seconds. I've started and stopped it several times since, and I can't seem to get the engine to do it again.
Should I be worried about this, enough to not use the boat until problem is found and fixed? Maybe it's just a sticky fuel shut-off solenoid. Right now I'm not willing to leave the dock until I figure it out. I'm going to look inside the turbo housing for a bearing/seal oil leak, and probably install a new shut-off solenoid, but after that I don't know what else to look for. Any ideas what could be causing the problem?
