Nothing wrong with the 6-53's will run forever.
Cheap parts, Good work engines.
Just make sure they were put up correctly or you could have internal rust.

Although some have heard rumors, I have seen with my own eyes Detroits that don't leak oil.

There used to be a Mechanic who specialized in Detroits in town named Turbo Tommy Brown. His rebuilds were great.
He got tired of dealin with boaters and open a custom bike shop.

The biggest trick is reducing the crankcase pressure to reduce leaks from gaskets and seals.
Airseps solve this problem.
