Steve, I'd say it matters more depending on where you install.
I picked up a JVC with wireless remote for my B35 from Sears. It was a Car unit and is now 3 years old and working fine. It's installed in the cabin just below the lower helm, no water & very little moisture.
I'd like to have a separate radio for the bridge & maybe cockpit that I could control from the bridge. If I ever do it I'll be looking for the most water-proof, boat friendly one I can find. I'd be concerned about it lasting if wet as well as not rusting and leaving stains on the boat.
btw, on my B20 I've got an older sitex water proof radio AM/FM/Cassette, not sure how old but it's right out in the open and still works.
Also, whatch placement of sub-woofers and amps, they'll interfere with your compass and other electronics. Just ask the Crowsnest about that.
br,
John
