The gooey Black stuff I found was not in the tank but at the Spark Plugs and on the valve stems. I also had a coating of the gunk on Carbs and intakes as well as the valve stems.

When I cleaned the tank, as best as I could I found hardly anything other then some sediment. No tank goo or sludge. However the fuel in the tank was tainted a brownish color and wreaked, really smelt foul, but not like an old fuel smell.

Only rubber components from tank Fill to filters is a 6" rubber fill tube from deck fitting to copper tube. Doubt that is the problem, but is coming out this weekend anyway.
