300 LP Yanmar timing-help

Has anyone checked out the timing on there 300's I'm wondering what's involved I had timing belts replaced a last fall and my mechanic said he would have to come back and check the timing well between are two schedules we havnt hooked up. I was wondering if it's some think i could do myself.
