In Response To: 28 SF Rear Bulkhead (Bill)

Having just done that (installed a new bulkhead in my 31)I would hold out untill the layup season. The bulkhead in a 31 is not really any structial support for anything other than itself. You most liklely will need a whole new bulkhead. I did mine with 1/2" marine plywood laminated on the inside with # 6 and epoxy and on the outside with thickened epoxy as per patrick then the laminate (Formica) counter top material.I put that over a 3/4" good bulkhead with all bad wood removed then all areas bleached real good. All new marine plywood was covered with epoxy. Not a small job but not a huge job like my deck , supports and engine boxes were. I'd use just latex caulk for now untill the winter and then rip her up. In order to do the bulkhead I had to tear the ceiling out then the inside bulkhead covering and of course all the trim too.Refer to Patrick's post under "Buddy Boy" for additional help. Dave K
