Blue Fin Tuna

Fished Saturday morn on WindStar out of Freeport,NY and hooked on to a small blue fin that made the size limit by ten or more inches. We weighed the fish on three different hand held scales and got reading from twenty five knts to forty knts. Oh, make that pounds!

Capt Harv was putting out the lines and had only three in the water whent the fish hit. We had just started. Then the second line went off.

Holy smokes, this is gonna' be the day. We lost the second fish. Only God knows what is was and be cause of the expletives that were being used, He didn't share the secret.

The plan of attack was forth coming from the Captain- "don't use the gaff because if the fish doesn't make the size, we let her go. Use the net." I like this statment. Made good fish sense. And it's most likley the only true statment in this post.

So where were we? The boat's out of Freeport and I think on a southwest course. The Captain said, "Don't concern your self, I'm going to put us on the fish."

"Yeah, right".

It seems that My Four Girls had a fine day the day before and had told WindStar that night. It was a secret spot. The Holy Grail of fish spots. And I wasn't permitted to see the GPS either. I did see New Jersey at one point while coming in. WindStar likes New Jersey.
