I'm happy to report the addition to our family of a beautiful 1965 B20 moppie "Jabba Jaws" , she joins Lady D, our B35. Some may remember her from the AC rendezvous, where Greg had brought her along with a couple of beautiful B25's which belonged to his in-laws. As I started to think harder about buying her, Greg convinced me to go for a ride to top off the fuel for his return trip. Wow, that little Bert handled chop and boat wakes flawlessly. Needless to say the hook was set.
My gratitude goes out to everyone who gave advice and insight into the B20’s and especially to Capt. Patrick for this wonderful sand box and sounding board which I used to search older threads about the B20’s and get in contact with some of those who have them and know about them.
She surveyed well, though has the typical B20 warts, nothing too bad. Her new duty will be creek and bar hopping in the Chesapeake, as well as the occasional trip to the ocean for some near shore fishing. Maybe I can get down to the Outer Banks for some of the late fall/winter Rock fishing (stripers to some). Oh, I forgot to mention, my 6yr old has informed me I have to buy a tube for her & her sister.
Some details:
Hull# 20-217
Power: Merc 165 with the old alpha drive and FW coolingOther: 2-fiberglass saddle tanks for a total of about 34gal. Ski style fore-aft seats and some lee outrigger poles. She’s been painted with imron, grey hull and white decks. The transom art work can be seen on the AC rendezvous site (look for “Jabba Jaws”) & will remain. She also has a nice but little worn mooring cover which keeps the inside clean.
The only improvement I’ll be making is the addition of a fish finder GPS combo & I’m going cheap, the Lowrance M65C.
br,
John
