Awlgrip vs Gelcoat?

Guys,
If you had a choice and price didn't matter which would you do and why....Awlgrip or Gelcoat? My Bert's coat is thinning and showing thru. My painter paints megayachts worldwide and has a booth. He says he can blend Awlgrip (not Awlgrip 2000 which I found hard to believe) if it's damaged or scratched which was a concern to me......He will do either and doesn't really care but says if it was his boat he'd Awlgrip because it shines better with less maintenance. I was leaning towards gelcoat because I can repair that myself and it should last longer but he says Awlgrip and will warranty it 10 yrs. I'd really like to hear everybody's personal preferences.......Thanks
