chrysler 318's again

Thanks for the info guys. Got them running, but they did not run well with 5 degrees (would stall and bog down), 10 seemed to work. This is all at the dock though with no load. Moved her about 50 yards under her own power. First time I have ever driven the boat since purchase in February. Put a rebuilt carb on the stbd engine and throttle response is snappy, along with the 4" mufflers and 5" tips, very throaty, but all the decks are off too. My next question is how hot should the exterior of the exhaust manifolds be? This is my first inboard boat and thought they would be much cooler to the touch. Laser indicated 140 at rear of manifold and 150ish at the front. they are fresh water cooled with log style manifolds. thermostats are open cause water is flowing into heat excchanger. Exhaust water temp was about 145-150 and seawater temp was 88. Florida Keys water! Sorry if I rambled on but this is all new to me. Thanks for the help and all the info is greatly appreciated.
Kevin
