Peter,
Thanks for the prompt response to an old email thread.
My only concern with the six is that it will require modification to the engine cowling resulting in additional fiberglass work. I'm also interested in putting jump seats backed up against the transom on either side of the engine cover. If I put the six in I may not have enough room to do so.
Will I really see that significant a performance difference between the 135 HP four and the 170 HP six?
I will not be going with a diesel because I want to maintian the existing dash instrumentation.
I was surprised to find out that the original fiberglass fuel tank is sound and doesn't require replacement. I'm hopeful that once we remove the engine, the transom will be free from moisture enough that it doesn't require significant repair. I'm lucky that the boat lived in Wyoming (freshwater lake usage) and was dry stored every winter.
