I've had really good results with Woody Wax. Comes in a blue squirt bottle from Boaters World or West Marine. For the pitted areas use a light to medium bronze wool soaked in WW and "sand" the area lightly. If needed soak the arch with WW and let it sit for 5, 10, 15 minutes even up to 24 hours before squirting again and going at it with the bronze wool.
