There was a big discussion about air filters for the Cummins and others, led by Tony Athens, on boatdiesel.com a year or 2 ago. Tony is one of those guys that won't take no or BS for an answer, and was having trouble with the K&N necks breaking off, plus had to use an adapter to make them fit most of the 6B's. So Tony brid-doged out two guys that had split off from K&N and had just started S&B. He gave them the specs he wanted and they built a better mouse trap. No adapter needed, and the rubber neck is made from some super-grade neoprene that lasts forever. The S&B's clean up using the K&N clean/oil kit, but Tony says don't clean them but about every 2 or 3 years or 1,000 hours, even if they turn black, as the dirtier they get, the better they work.

Same thing Tony did on the broke-dick Sherwood raw water impellers. The ones he now sells are 100 times better than the factory ones. Find a hole, fill it.
