Bulkhead Tabbing

My front bulkhead on the port side has the tabbing broke loose, I guess not that unusual. I keep the boat on a lift and that only seems to further pull the sides of the boat away. The question I have is, Should I let the boat sit in the water for a few days before glassing in the new tabbing, or will it not make a difference? On a different note, Saturdays fishing trip was slow, but I did get to swim with (and ride) a whale shark we ran into on the way home, something I always wanted to do, I highly reccomend it if given the chance.
