Bill,
I second that on what Scott told you. You can not beat JRC. I just spoke to my Marine Electronics guy (Felix Marine Electronics) last week. That was one of our points of discusion. I maintain Meteorological Radar (The big guys)JRC is lower in cost because they don't target the small market like us guys. They make big ship radars and have being doing it for some time now. So Furuno and Ray Marine are also good radars. I would recomend the CRT vs the LCD display for readability and dependability . LCD looks nice but are hard to read and will not last. Pixels go bad eventually with time. As much as we use our boats the CRT should last the life of the radar. Check with Vic's place in New Orleans. They have given the best prices and shop around also considering an out fit that will service it as well. Hope this helps. Also minimum 4 KW(or more) with an open array scanner(Antenna)otherwise it's a toy. Oh yes, the new radars with the digital receivers blow the sox off old analog radars. Dave K
